Yeah. I still am friends with him to this day. He is actually my stock broker! We were just talking about it a few weeks back. Wished he still had it. Don't we all! It was a door slammer! That car would do the strangest thing: I raced him with my76' cutty and his car would raise up, kinda rock back and then wham! The thing would like like it got shot out of a gun! Fast muthuh effuh! And I can't explain it, but, for some reason the nitrous hit so hard in that car. When I nitro'd my 76', it had a similar reaction. Like, kaboom! Then the car felt like it was gonna leave you there on the street and keep going. I miss that. Sorry to go off but you have my tail waggin a little.

Now about the tires......

Excellent. Looking at either Cooper Cobra Radial G/T, or the BF Goodrich Radial T/A. Not sure what the difference is between the two besides price. Any idea?
Not sure about road noise on the cooper's, but the bfg's were pretty quiet and have held up well. Traction in rain and snow isn't horrible as long as your not putting decent power to the ground. I used to drive my cutlass daily and had plenty of puckering rides in the snow with a 320-340rwhp engine! If you plan on doing any drag racing find a spare set of back wheels and drag radials.....the bfg's are HORRIBLE at the strip (ask me how I know).
Hope this helps, others should chime in at some point.

I know I have said this in the past but, if you have a good known tire shop that you deal with, they would be the best to ask. I had charger kelly on my cutlass and never had a problem. I had bfg's on it after and didn't have a problem either. Bang for your buck and longevity. As far as a winter tire, just about anything with posi in the winter is going to suck as far as traction unless you have a dedicated set of winter tires. I would get a set of winter sneakers too. Or be a winter driver with kid gloves. Just my suggestion.

Not to go off on a tangent from the OP'S request...but I get it on tail wagging man lol! The brain gets goin on stuff stored in the "archived hotrod files" and before you know it your BP is up!!! Actually one of my best friends growing up (did my 1st motor swap in his driveway when we were 18 or 19) lives a bock away and has to pass my house to leave the neighborhood....we r both busy with life but occasionally he will stop by and we just BS about back then when his 81 malibu sleeper was shocking people just like his 84 Camaro does now.

Definitely! I have had a couple street sweepers since then and none as memorable as my 76' cutlass and my 56' bel air. It's funny, he drives an Audi now and I'm driving a 79' Bu! And busy, hell yeah brother! I have to lightly pencil a bowel movement these days.

Have a rather irritating problem with the Cutlass today. The hood release cable broke off on the inside of the car under the dash. Now I can't even open the hood to replace the cable. Any suggestions? Help please...

Are you able to cut the housing of the cable open and pull the cable itself with a pair of pliers to release it? Or did the actual cable break? Maybe try to reach up to where the latch is in the engine bay and tug on it to release the latch. Just a thought man.

I agree with injected cutty. If you can cut the cable outer sheath to expose the inside cable, you may be able to grab what's left with vice grips or pliers etc... The only other option in to get access to the latch assembly via the front of the car either by removing the grill or from under the nose and with a hook tool or some other bent screwdriver or something, you can release it. It's gonna take a little work but you can get it. The only other option I can think of is to remove the splash shield on the drivers side and pull it down enough to get access to what is left of the cable and try the first thing I mentioned. Good luck and let us know how you do. Failure never beats a try.

Looking at a set of American Racing aluminum slots wrapped in BF Goodrich white letters. 15x7's with 4.75 bolt pattern. Just checking to make sure these will fit my '86 Cutty.
