So I picked up this 87 iroc stick for 700 bucks on Sunday. It had been sitting for 2 years on a trailer with a blown 383, I got the complete blown motor and a 80-85 350 with a cam and flat top pistons. I also got a newish clutch. I think I'm going to just put a stock 305 TPI in and then port it and put some rocker arms on later.

Good luck on it! Seeing that hand brake in the interior makes me wonder how well a Camaro console would fit in my Regal...

It fits ok but you need to modify it at the point where it meets the dash.

Looks like a fun project and sorry for the hijack!

I think the consoles out of the 2nd gen firebirds and camaros look much better than the third gens when it comes to swapping hem into g bodies. I think the third gens are a little flimsy and tend to crack around the bolt holes and when you are sliding around in your seat, the harsh angles are no good on the elbows.

I have one and I installed the f body hand brake...I have standard and I thought at my age 4 pedals would be confusing so I removed the parking brake..

To hell with that 305 TPI, just rebuild that 383 and run that turd into the ground! I never liked the third gens, they didn't feel like a camaro to me. for 700 bucks you can't beat it, sh*t the trans alone is probably worth that to the right person.....5 speed gbody?

I have been thinking about just taking the trans and clutch assembley and throwing it in my 79 LT1 cutty just cuz my 700r4 in it just lost 3-4 clutch packs. I was going to rebuild it but I had the old th350 sitting around so I just popped that baby back in to keep the cutty rolln. I figured I can sell the th350 with it running in my car pretty easily, and drop it out for the seller. Then take the money from the sale and get a good rebuild kit and strengthen up the weak points. But I used to have a 87 iroc I got as a basket case just like this one. That one ended up with a 89 350 TPI and 700r4 all the guts and suspension from the 89. I always kicked myself for selling it so I figured I make this one right to its former glory and cruise it.

before you use the transmission make sure it has clean oil and lay it on it's side for a while so the roller bearing in-between the input and output shafts gets lubricated

So I picked up a 86 Trans am 5.0 TPI with 90k miles the other day. For a complete motor, stand and engine hoist it cost me 280$. Not too bad, I'm at 980$ total for the project and I gave myself 1500$ total budget for the car and what it takes to get it looking and running good. Still need carpet, dash pad and to redo the door panels.
