it was alot easier pulling it than i thought. the majority of time is spent disconnecting the harness and emissions stuff and cleaning up coolant and power steering fluid..there are basically 7 bolts total that mount the engine and transmission..with four bolting in the crossmember. 2 motor mount bolts and one transmission bolt. i definitely feel i can do it myself with a little help when it's time for the new brain to go in.

Looking at the 307 out. It looks super clean for a 25 year old engine. No gunk....

Engine Bay Update..After Soda Blasting

well this weekend my objective was to strip the paint from engine bay frame rails and the firewall...so i loaded up the baking soda into my little Harbor Freight siphon blaster and went to work...until

I stopped because the cleanup was getting worse and worse..if you've ever soda/sand blasted then you know that sh*t piles up right under you...FAST.

And here's my motor mounts after soda blasting, primer and painting...

Next weekend I just have to roll her back out, remove the the upper/lower CA, entire wheel/brake assembly to blast a few spots i missed as well the under side of the frame. i also just got the CA bushing set from Spohn for the uppers and lowers...so i'll be soda blasting, primer and hitting them with the semi-gloss and having the new bushings pressed in hopefully next weekend..

I'm not sure if soda will strip the paint from the firewall but we'll see...if not does anyone know what will take off the factory paint from the firewall? Nothing too chemically abrasive..i'd prefer something more environmentally friendly..

what kind of compressor are you using with the soda blaster and can you post pics of the soda blaster you are using

this is a good build thread and I want to see it get put back together

I am curious to see how the upper and lower control arms turn out with the soda blaster.

Re: 87 Regal-355 Build- New Summit Vortec Heads Engine Bay p

It's been a while since I posted progress on the Regal..I finished the stripping/painting of the engine bay a few months ago..i've also upgraded to the Speedway upper CAs..I picked up the Summit Vortec heads this weekend so I should be done with this motor in the next few weeks..after I pick up the intake, distributor and carb I'm swinging the shortblock and top end stuff back to the builder so he can finish it up for me.. i do my own work but i'm not playing the trial-and-error thing on my motor. maybe when i do my next one but with my regal I want it done right...anyways here are some pics to catch everyone up..
