Limited slip... Is that better?

no I mean the g80 would've once been a posi/lsd, now its not cuz the clutches will be toast

no clutches, its cone style, and unless you're going in a straight line, theyre crapppyyyy

cone is still a clutch, works more like a synchro but its still a clutch
on that note....didn't GM use eatons in the 7.5 and 8.5 in these years? Was a 7.5 lsd an option? I think all the g body's if lsd would be posi not cone. Someone help me out here, I've read pontiac and fords used an aurburn type.

Unless its worm driven (and it aint a zexel torsen) then I'd put my money on any old worn down 7.5 being basically an open diff. Rebuild time if you want traction

Your car has a 7.5" rear.

You can check your RPO label on the underside of the trunk lid to find the gear ratio.

Here are some common codes...
G72-2.14 ratio
GH2-2.29 ratio
GU1-2.41 ratio
GM8-2.56 ratio
GU2-2.73 ratio
GU4-3.08 ratio
GU5-3.23 ratio
GT4-3.73 ratio
