hey, my A/C needs to be recharged and I don't feel like doing that right now. If I were to remove the belt connecting the compressor would I see any improvements in gas mileage?

I didn't notice any change when I added a belt to my compressor recently so I doubt you will notice a change if you take yours off. As long as the compressor clutch is not engaged there shouldn't be much drag.

Think about it. The A/C compressor clutch doesn't even engage unless the A/C is on, there's not going to be a mileage increase.

cool, I didn't realize that it worked that way I figured it was always putting a load on the engine thanks
