Have had great success with this forum for my 87 Elky repairs. My AC needs Freon, is there as "Standard" type for a
305, V8 4 barrel factory AC. Is there a place on the vehicle that provides this info? My orginal owners book doesn't get that specific....

Unless it has been converted to R134a, it takes R12. R134 didn't happen until around 1990. R12 is scarce but we managed to find some by asking around last month. R134 is everywhere.

With the age of the car I would leak check first, replace accumulator and orifice, convert to r134a with proper oil and make sure you use a good vacuum pump to evacuate.

Have you guys tried this refrigerant called Redtek R-12A?

I bought a large cylinder a few years ago and used it on 2 different R-12 vehicles, it works great - better than R-134A conversion from my experience. you can find it on amazon and ebay.
