I've been running a WTB add on Craigslist for over 6 months looking for a wagon parts car. Last Saturday I get a text that this guy has a Malibu roller. He sends me a picture and price. He's asking a lot but everything I need looked good, so we agreed and I started lining up a tow truck and passed on a day of overtime today. Well he texts me that he changed his mind and the deals off. I thought buyers were supposed to be the back out A--holes.

I have ran into this situation for me as a seller a couple times, once on Racing Junk I posted a fuel injection bug catcher that I got in a package deal of parts and took a guess at what it was worth and I told the first caller I would sell it to him and while I am looking into shipping I get 3 other calls on it and get offers more than double my asking price but I told them all that I promised it to the first guy.
I feel my word is a good as a handshake so I go through with the deal knowing I am taking a loss and ask him to email me when he gets it.
So he emails me a few days later and says it looks great so I email him back and say if you are happy with the deal my PayPal takes donations figuring maybe he might throw me a $20 or something since he probably saved a few hundred dollars.
His response was "If you wanted more money for it you should have posted it in an auction instead of a set price"
I didn't bother to respond but I'm thinking really, this is RacingJunk not Ebay I could have backed out and reposted it for more.

Funny, what I am saying is I could have easily been the ******* that backed out of the deal finding out the parts were worth much more at the last minute but I didn't.
The lesson I learned was do more thorough research before selling something you don't know much about.

I've done the same thing and kept my word and on the other side of the coin I have paid more than the asking price if I knew the guy didn't know the value of the product he is selling.....I shipped something to someone in the forum and had no idea what the thing was worth so I just sent it and said when he gets it just pay the shipping and throw in what he thought the part was worth, he paid the shipping and nothing else, didn't even say thanks.

Sorry about that, how much do I owe you? And by the way Thanks!😉

And that is why i have learned to NOT be the nice guy. Everyone is out for themselves. Period.
