I only paid $61 for it .. i cant wait to start putting my car together to tell you the truth, but im waiting a lil longer untill i get all my front suspension done. I have put together a kit on summit, and compare to other kits sold out there. It's less and i get more parts.

what it is good for? making your car lighter? Would you notice the difference? Just curious cause I might start looking...

Dont' tell the yard guys it's aluminum

I've only seen aluminum supports in 78,79, and 80 model years. Not saying they weren't used in later cars, just I've never seen one.

Not all are stamped with the A...but you can't miss the BIG plug welds on the aluminum vs the small spotwelds on the steel version.

Agree totally with this. I just scratch the support with a rock or bolt and look for aluminim.
There were 500,000 Lemans cars built from 78-80 so there are a lot out there. I've found 2 in 1978 Grand Prixs and found 2 in my Grand Ams. One 78 and one in an 80.

Shotgun, (see his atached spreadsheet) reports that the aluminum supports wieghs 13 lbs less than the steel. It looks great blasted and clearcoated. Some clears will yellow or time, so check on this.
