hey guys, i have an 87 cutlass i've got the motor apart right now, but i'd like to remove the ac compressor & lines, but i'd like to keep my heat, is this possible & if so can you direct me to a how to or let me know how to do it, i don't know if there's anything in the lines, and i havent had the car running for the past few days, so im just basicly wondering if i can just pull the lines & compressor and still have heat?

Yeah you would still have the heat if you remove the ac lines and all other associated stuff with it....Maybe look for a non a/c heater box as well, that will clean up your bay and make it look good 8)

There will probably still be some freon pressurized in the system, so be careful when you open those lines up

you can check to see if there is pressure and allow the pressure to dissipated with the schrader valve

thats what i was thinking, why spend more when it's already there, i just want the lines & compressor gone, soi 'd use the schrader valve to drain then just basicly unbolt all the lines and im good to go?, i don't have to seal up the leftover lines, and my heat willl still work?

Yes, your heat should still work.

okay, and what can i use to drain the stuff in the ac lines, just stick a nail or somthing in the schrader valve, wait till it's empty & loosen off the lines and pull the ac?

It's a wHole lot quicker to just unbolt the lines from the back of the compressor  Be sure to wear gloves and eye protection  SAFETY FIRST
