Yup found it in the parts book. VERY hidden. It was in the parts exploded diagram which showed one part number for something, then underneath that, it had an "accessory part" which was the clip. 1224062 is the part number.

I also saw on the Corvette forum someone "made" one out of a 1/4" nut welded on top of a stud that had an e-clip on the bottom to slide through the lever hole. Anyway, the clip is supposed to look like this ln the lever side:

The clip just slides over the rod threads until you get where you want it and then clip it in to lever hole.

I'm thinking that in a pinch, a late model door lock rod clip could be used in place of the slotted clip. They go into a hole, and have a top that locks over the rod....might be a little more secure that way. Attached pic upper and lower ones are a general idea of what I'm talking about, there are several styles among the various automakers

Hold on a sec....that clip part number was for the FORWARD clip that clips the rod to the door.

There's another clip on the lever that simply has a slot in it for the threaded rod. I'm still searching for this clip. I have a p/n I found from a Corvette forum, since they share a lot of the same blend door parts. So.....it may be 1224062 but I am not 100 percent on that.

yeah when you google that part number 1224062 this comes up.......lol

Maybe the door clips COULD work, but you may have to modify it. I'm just trying to find parts that seemingly don't exist anymore. 🙂

Yeah, that Kent clip won't be correct.

And it is appreciated...I'd never have found that cable clip👍

For funsies, I happened to look at an inventory sheet of my NOS junk....I may even have a couple of those jokers. For each end of the rod. Don't have any rods though it appears, and I might even have a lever or two. I'll have to check the stash and see if I still have them. Pretty sure I have at least one of all that because I made sure to get what I could for the 85 when I had the chance. I'm notorious for getting rid of stuff or moving it and not updating my inventory sheets.

im going to look into those other door clips but i dont think they will work because the shaft coming out of the heater box looks to be about 1/4 in diameter
