An officer tonight responding to a problem at a property recommended we pick up some protection in the morning - I admitted to him that I didn't have a weapon with me, they were all down the coast.
I consider myself a journeyman. I've shot a few dozen different handguns and rifles through the years, from muzzleload blackpowder homemade kit to ar-15 and beyond. From .22 six shooter to 1911 to, once, a desert eagle at a range. My wife is a novice, with for all intents virtually no real world experience.
I've gotten out of the game so to speak, especially since 2015. I know you get what you pay for to a degree.
The only good news is Wednesday is ladies day at a nearby range. I can maybe let the wife shoot some. But, I'm curious about handgun recommendations on a budget for defense purposes. I'd heard decent things about some of the Phillipines made 1911s in the near but barely sub $500 category. Thought about the pawn avenue but so much of that stuff can be worn out and sloppy.
Obviously a .22 pistol does nothing. Maaaaybe a .45 is a bit too much for her. 9mm? I dunno.
Hoping to hear some recommendations to ask about and hope are in-stock. Price matters, not looking to add another unexpected $2000 purchase on top of everything going on here.
