Who's running aftermarket oil pans. Why did you ditch the factory pan and what are you running? Pics welcome

I have a Canton Racing Products road race oil pan for the Olds.

Anyone who builds an Olds typically replaces the stock pan with an aftermarket because it just makes sense. You get a couple of extra quarts of capacity which you can either use and run 7qts or run the typical 5qts to keep the oil further from the crank.

The reason I went with the Canton pan was for the baffles and trap doors that help keep the oil around the oil pump pickup under cornering loads.

However for a track car it's a bandaid at best. The ultimate would be a dry sump system but they cost quite a bit of money and you have to find a place for all the plumbing. 🙁

Is that a double kick. I know its not for a Chevy but I wonder oil filter clearance is with a double kick and full length headers

I have a double kick out pan and headers and I use the short filter. That set up worked with the hydraulic throw out bearing but I'm using a slave now so I have to remove the slave to change the filter. I'm changing the pan out to a single kick out to cure that issue..

How hard is it to get to the filter? I have these big honking 1 3/4" huslers

I always use double kick out pans on Chevy builds for extra capacity along with ground clearance but I have never been a fan of stock filter location so I run a remote filter set up and mount the filter on the core support.
I can undo the filters by hand to change them and don't have to worry about working next to a hot header.

I gotcha. Just debating swapping pans on this go around while the motors out. Hard to justify a high dollar high capacity pan for a street car

I already purchased my melling select pump for my motor, along with the bolt on pickup for the stock 7" deep pan. Was looking at these pans as they make a bolt on pickup just for my oil pan

I like the 7 quart pans cause I just change my oil once a year every spring.

Once a year huh?
