Air cleaner fitment

Holley Street Dominator was an awesome intake!!!

Many years ago I saw this 85 442 at a car show that had a 68 or 69 W30 air cleaner on it. The owner of the car told me the engine was an olds 350 and it did have the factory A/C on it. What he did to clear the HEI and A/C was used a spacer on the carb. I can't remember what intake he had but if it was an aftermarket it would raise the air cleaner. He did have the stock hood on it. What I did was grabbed my W30 air cleaner and just laid it on the engine and it was hitting the HEI. It will work with a spacer and I took some pictures. 20181123_212141.jpg20181123_212054.jpg

I didn't like the price and the good chance it will not fit. I used a 307 Vin Y air cleaner off my 88 Cutlass, the usual Olds skinny snorkel on the driver's side. I added a bigger snorkel of the 260 air cleaner, it looked factory and some of Olds dual snorkel air cleaners look what I made. The picture is in car is my 70 but you get the idea.

If I go with a standard air cleaner with a snorkel ( single or dual ) it needs to be a drop base otherwise the vacuum diaphragm motor will hit my hood. If I remove the vacuum diaphragm motor for clearance, the air cleaner still looks stupid cuz it sits so high. Im running a carb spacer.

I had what I thought was the perfect setup idea; from boneyard. Got what was basically an Olds 307 air cleaner but it was a drop base. Came off a tbi Chevy. Problem was it had a stupid ring around inside and the air cleaner got mutilated when removing ring....

I’m running a drop base on mine because of the 455 and torquer intake but it’s just an open one I want something like you found because my vfn hood is set up for OAI and I thought it would be cool to have it working ,one of my back burner projects

It is going to be "nice" out today 45ish I will take some pics of the Toronado,Vette and Camaro air cleaner on the Olds with AC

OK here you go...

I got out my parka and braved the 35* tundra like conditions!!!!

Olds 442 perfect fit, obviously.......

66 Toronado distributor interference (made for points distributor) and AC muffler interference Sux I really wanted to use this one!

Late 70's early 80's Vette hits AC bracket and PCV valve

80's Camaro FITS!!!!!!! BUT you will need a PCV valve with a 90* instead of the straight up Olds version.

Hope this helps
