Can I drive it up on ramps to torque them for more crawl space? Or does it have to be flat on the ground?

ramps are fine, the suspension just has to be at the ride height. Once you have the car up on the ramps push down on the car a few times to make sure the suspension is in it's neutral position

yes...that is if you removed the control arms which isn't necessary to change the rear springs so you probably didn't remove or loosen them.

OK for some reason I unbolted the top ends on the rear

it wouldn't be a bad idea to take the weight off the wheels and if you can slide the bolts out for the control arms butter them up with anti seize. There are a few threads where those bolts are a b*tch to remove.

they have it in most auto part stores. I use it on just about every bolt I install
