If you have an 3" aluminum, or larger than stock radiator in your G-body what type of top support or bracket did you choose? Where did you get it?

I built a set from some 1"x.125" strap I got from the hardware store. Used a hammer and vise and grinder and cut it to shape. I welded a bit on mine to hold my radiator fan but if you have a fan mounted differently you can get away without welding.

You also will have to modify the lower isolators.

I'm running an aftermarket radiator hold down from dixie resto depot.i ended up removing isolator bracket that held the rubber isolators due to the over sized radiator.i replaced it with some rubber square stock.it doesn't move and works well.

I made my hold downs out of aluminum and then polished them. my Intrepid fans are held in place with brackets I made that mount directly to the core support.

Melloelky, you got a stock size cover and changed the rubber? You have a 3 inch radiator?

I made mine. They are a bit crude but they work for a race car, and I made them with scrap metal so they were free. Also I used a set of universal poly radiator bushings and extended the top brackets to hold my custom fan shroud and electric fan

yep it's 3" thick.i removed the "saddle" if you will that the rubber presses into as the tank on the bigger radiator doesn't fit.it's flat on top where the tank meets the core unlike a stock style that has a raised portion that where the tank meets the core..basically the underside of that plate is now flat.i was able to place the rigid square rubber stock on each end and one in the middle.

I bought mine years back and it worked great until now. The new radiator is shorter than what was in there previously, so I've gotta do some tweaking to get it to hold the rad tight. I'm kinda kicking myself in the *ss now for selling my stock one which would work perfect now.

I was thinking I was going to fab my own brackets but I really wanted a cover. I am going to get the Custom Black Smooth Support from Mike's Monte's for $53.99......if it has the rubber included. The ad doesn't say.
