Am I lowballing?

Not impossible up North. As long as you get above the $1000 dirt track car budget it's feasible. It's going to be missing parts because people take stuff apart and loose it and give up, it might have some soft spots in the floor, etc, but I see sub $4k G bodies that need work quite regularly up here.

It's not an SS but gives you an idea. Lots of abandoned projects in the Dakotas, Iowa, MN, Nebraska, Wisc. Just gotta be fast when they come up.

The issue is people see SS and immediately decide it’s worth gold. There is one near me that looks in good condition but it’s running on 7 cylinders and they want 5500. Another one closer to me is up for 4500. They say it runs but it looks to be missing the driver door and rear bumper at the very least.

I expect rust on the car just because of age and it’s not necessarily in a perfect environment. How hard is it to fix or detrimental is that rust?
It’s a toss up, in my opinion. When I was stripping my car to bare metal I took all the lead out in the roof to body seams, every one had rust. None were bad enough to displace the lead filler, so that’s kind of worrying.

It could also be a case of B pillar cracking, causing the joint to shift slightly and open up the seam to the elements.

Those possibilities and the 50% price drop from 8,000 to 4,000 tells me someone thought that thing was gold, and either couldn’t sell it, or there’s more wrong with it than the pictures show.

Pleas excuse I’m ignorance but what are lead fillers?
Fisher used lead as filler material for the joints that bonded the roof to the lower body and A pillars.

I removed mine with a basic torch and a horsehair brush because I was taking it to metal to have a clean slate and wanted to avoid the risk of lead poisoning when bodyworking.

Basicly todays "lead" really isn't. The paint supply company that I worked for in KIttanning (& will remain nameless cause I won't encouage anyone to use them) all the body lead replacement bars looked & about flowed like the real stuff but was (at the time) EPA freindly. I used to sell it mostly to the old school body guys & hot rodders. Not sure how much the covered steel was protected from rust forming.

As inflation keeps going up..., the wife is going to nudge nudge... "You need to sell that thing"... Especially when eggs are 4 dollars a dozen and gas is close 4 or more.

You start seeing the trend of project cars up for sale. I saw same thing starting in 2009.

This one in Tucson recently... $400.00 Body shell

Another source I used post 2008 Down turn...

Was Portland Oregon Craiglist. Lots of 70s and 80s very nice shape for very low dollars. Couldn't pass Emissions so no longer drivable.
