Yeah, the limousine liberals really get me. They sit there and tell us all to conserve yet they use more energy in a single day than I do in a month. Al Gore is but one example. His "carbon offset" scam is that he basically pays himself by buying offsets from a company he partially owns to allow him to live his private jet lifestyle. Plus, many of the companies offering these "offsets" are big lumber companies who would have planted new trees anyhow. It's like paying a wheat farmer to plant the wheat he would have planted in the first place! I applaud the lumber companies for adding an additional revenue stream by taking advantage of the gullible idiots who think they are doing something to help the planet. However, this does not excuse the idiocy of the individuals getting ripped off in these scams. They are not actually doing anything that helps the supposed global warming problem they say they care about so much. However, it is their intentions and not the actual outcome of their actions that are what they are judged on.

As for large trucks and SUV's, I think that most people who own them should not be allowed to for different reasons. Most drivers of these vehicles ( ESPECIALLY Dodge Ram Quad Cabs!) are not responsible enough drivers to be able to properly operate them. There should be an additional license test required when one is driving something that large so that the brainless will not use them as a battering ram in traffic, or to somehow compensate for shortcomings in other areas. I have had too many close calls with people in Dodge Ram Quad Cabs ( seems like there are more idiots in these than other trucks) and F-350's when driving a small vehicle to count. They don't look or signal but just expect people to move out of their way or be intimidated by the size of their truck.

i agree 100% it is funny that you mention about the Dodge Ram Quad Cab drivers being idiots, i had a geo metro a year ago, and a guy in one of them trucks ran righ into me while he was switching lanes!!! go figure! Now i drive a VW fox, i love this car 45-50 mpg. It is just a plain jane car, no power locks, windows, or even power steering. that is all i really need, i have not reason to drive a huge suv around. If people say they like how roomy it is inside, why dont they get a minivan then 😀 Well you know what they say about people who always have to drive big truck, their just compensating for some thing else! 😀 😀

one thing that i always did like about truck owneres is when i had to go and tow them out of a snow bank i got to hear the "but i had it in 4 wheel drive. i don't understand why it went off the road." i made alot of money off of that mentality.

For me, it was my 1995 Nissan Sentra. I must have had 4 or 5 close calls because of quad cabs and their brainless drivers. It also seems to be the case when I drive my Frontier as well, with some of them almost chasing me because I stopped them from cutting me off while they were weaving in and out of traffic. My best story about an idiot truck driver came from a guy who had his girlfriend next to him and he proceeded to heckle me for driving a Nissan. Now, I had neither said nor done anything to this guy, but he thought he was hot sh*t with his 150hp 305 powered 92 Chevy 4x4 with a lift kit and oversized tires. He proceeded to burn out from the light and accelerate for all his truck was worth. Funny thing is, I smoked HIM from the light. By the time I was doing 50, I had 5 car lengths on him. He neglected to think about the physics of the situation--but I didn't. My truck weighs 3200lbs at most. His? 5,000. My truck didn't have too tall tires with stock gearing like his did, nor does it have the extra drivetrain mass of 4wd. Oh, his engine made 150-170hp max while mine makes 143hp. I had the power to weight and likely gearing advantage. Oh,and-I know how to shift and cut a good light.

Oh, and what happened to the Sentra? Well, it got T-boned once by a Ram Quad Cab-but that didn't kill it. I backed it into a Sable and killed the trunk lid, but no biggie. No, It bought it in an intersection due to a ignorant driver in a Toyota RAV/4. I miss the 55mpg I got on the highway in that thing...🙁

On the diesel Mercedes front, I am heavy into my reading and research on them right now. My neighbor has a W126 ( 1983 300SD) with the same 3 liter turbo diesel 5 that the smaller W123 300D's had from 1981 or 82 on up. I told him tonight to tell me if he's gonna work on it so I can learn as much as possible about those engines. I have also gotten quite a few ideas for modifications to improve performance. Things like a manual transmission conversion, adding an intercooler ( DSM?) and a better turbo cartridge from a Ford ( both use Garrett T-3's). If so, I will have the only hot rodded manual transmissioned turbo diesel old Mercedes used for pizza delivery in the whole Tampa Bay area. Not to mention probably the only pizza delivery car running on waste fry grease! Even if I never do any of this, it gives me something to think about that keeps my depression at bay.
