Another Cutlass followed me home

Ah ok I guess I just don't see to much demand for these rigs in old diesel setups. I have all the electrical and fuel system stuff that can be pulled from the other 80 car that had also been a diesel and converted. The car has split benches so the buckets should bolt in if I remember correct. Not going to a factory console just a Hurst setup, steering column out of an f body will replace the trashed stock unit. G bodies are very rare around these parts so it is not as simple as selling it and getting something else. I have however considered rebuilding the diesel motor as a turbo setup to make things different but still keep it diesel.

Really??? cmon gramps

Anyways nice pickup bro! for $300 how can you go wrong?

Why would you part out an extremely rare car?
Sell it to someone who will apreciate it and find another one... :wtf:
Misread the post but regardless you're still butchering up a very rare DIESLE Cutlass.
Very little made with a diesel motor, and even fewer survive... looks complete and restoreable.
Also, youre gonna have to swap the fuel tank, lines, electrical/ignition (glow plug setup) at minimum.
I'd clean it up and sell it for $1500 and use the cash to find one with a gasoline setup and buckets/console since those are gonna need to all be welded in anyways.
Its just sad to see rare cars get the ax when there are plenty of other more common ones to work with.

Oh and the car was slated for the crusher until I made an offer. It was actually going to go that day. So really I did save the car. The car my motor is from was a whole lot rarer, a 77 Delta 88 Pace Car in my junk yard. I have the engine, wheels and steering wheel from that car to go in this one.

Update? Is this gonna get absorbed into the other build thread?

Yeah its absorbed into the other thread and replacing the black one as the base of the build. I havnt been able to do much work though this summer because of work and things like my well going t*ts up on me.

Nice find I have never been much for keeping these cars stock you should build it the way you like and enjoy it.You could build a HO clone, and to have all the alum parts is cool. What are your build plans for the car?If you don't mind running 14 tires the HO rims are cool as well.Good Luck with you build.

I have an Olds 403 to go in it, Hurst shifter, a posi rear, some racing springs, a few visual cues including a F body wing, seats from a GTP, I have a few sets of wheels to choose from and most of the frame bracing. Oh I also have bought some JD Blitz Black paint for it. The car will be covered in my 80 cutlass build thread.

Nice score! Looking at the tags it looks that that's a replacement 350 diesel...bug surprise...almost all of the early diesels had major issues and were swapped in most cases under warranty. I think the diesels are interesting and very rare now, but certainly understand your wanting to put a gas engine in the car....the diesel's make my 307 seem fast, which is a neat trick.

Oh and with those full gauges it's going to be super easy to add a factory tachometer.

Neat new toy!

There's a reason very few of these cars ever survived as diesels.....

Awesome find...
And you build the car how you want to build it. It will be yours to enjoy that much more.
