Sorry guys I may be at Iowa State University but i am no engineer sadly. What i really want to do is fashion a flagpole for my truck for gameday. I would love to use the standard size flag to have and drive around with for when we loose. My problem is I am having problems figuring out how to do this exactly and basically asking for any ideas that you guys may have. I attached a badass paint picture of what i want to do. I dunno, really looking for any input here I can get. Oh and hopefully when I reregister my truck I am going to get iowa state plates that say WE TRY

hahahaha watch it now!

does yer truck have the holes on the top of the side of the bed? if so then get some 2x4 and afix the flags to it, or 2 and have at it, if no then still get the 2x4's and get a c clamp and clamp the 2x4 to the underside of the inside lip of the bed. or.. you can make a tripod outa wood or pvc, then use sand bags as weights so it doesnt fall over. your welcome, and ILLINI RULES!

can you explain a little bit betteR? honestly ya lost me on this one

There should be stake pockets in the bed sides. Cut a piece of wood that fits down in the stake pockets for each side. Then, bridge the bed with another piece of wood, and either attach the flag pole to that or drill a hole in it to let the flag sit down inside the hole with the bottom of the pole resting in the bed. At this point, I would run a bolt or big screw through the board and pole to secure it. I think that is what Beermonkey was trying to say.

so in essence there would be a 2x4 running across the back of the pickup?
