It could be a 70. thats why I said to check the exhaust runner. The 70-71 heads are different than the 72-74 and 75-76. buick part numbers are a bit weird.

great pics. so theres your answer, it is a 70 because you have cast aluminum rockers. later ones are stamped steel.

After looking at that I can confirm the block is a 70-71 and the heads are 67-69.

Also, the two outermost water jacket holes on the matins surface are round , not oblong.

there was no 455 from 67-69, unless they're 430 heads

Lol its all good. Any idea on what a running 1970 455 is worth? Im thinking about cleaning it up, buying new gaskets, painting it and selling it. This could fund my roller cam swap I suppose.

Well, i've seen cores around $500. Running, as anything else, what someone will pay. Might be worth more on Ebay sold in pieces.

One thing, If the timing cover is in good shape, espically inside the oil pump they can be worth a couple hundred alone.

Im still not sure what I wanna do with it. The guy told me it was an Olds 455 so I bought for my dad as a back up in case his ever blows up. I don't have anything to put it in nor do I see myself taking on another project at the moment. I might throw it on craigslist and see what I can get for it.

I personally would hang on to it, you never know what you will build later on when the Monte is done and around here I never see Buick engines for sale. The old big BOP's are hard to come by.
