Any DIY instructions on installing aftermarket gauges?

I only run autometer gauges, but my car is more a drag car and i need the most accurate gauges.

If your keeping the car spend the money and do it the right way once.

I bought the dual set (Temp/Oil) Summit Brand. Is it possible to keep the dummy lights functioning and still hook these up?

You have to buy that T connector. We gotta pick those up this weekend. They got em at Autozone.
 
ok fellas, i hit a roadblock installing the gauges. Everything ran smooth installing the oil gauge but the problem came while trying to install the Temp gauge. I wanted to install the sending unit in the large port. The summit gauge came with a large brass pipe thread/screw. I took the large port plug out and tried installing the large pipe/screw and it wouldnt screw in. after a couple mins of frustration from trying to make it fit..i realized it was a no go. I went to autozone to see if there was an adapter i needed and they had no clue what i was talking about. I tried reinstalling the old port/screw/plug to deal with it later and the ****ing thing wouldnt screw in either... i think i stripped that port trying this sh*t... :blam: :blam: :blam: :blam: :blam:


The intake is a 7111 performer.

The intake is a 7111 performer.
Is it plugged back in? Find a way to plug it, you might have to rethread it and bolt it back up.
You can get a chrome water neck with built in sensor. Replace your existing water neck and voila, you're good to go.

Appreciate the response but I have sbo...do they make those for sbo's. It's not plugged yet. I have the old plug just sitting on top covering the hole. As far as re threading, I'm guessing I'll have to drain the water so no shavings get there. Do you know what I need to get the unit installed if I cant find a water neck u suggest for an sbo?
 
As far as i can tell the threading in the hole is fair. I called summit to see if they could help me and they said they have extra pipe plugs. so i went to advanced auto to see if they had some(since they're closer) and i bought a steel one and it worked. But now, when started car up it revved super loud and oil poured out of the hole where i installed the oil sending unit..im telling you. this sh*t is a ****ing headache...
