Hey guys! So just looking ahead to the LS3 E-Rod swap. The swap includes nearly everything but the cat-back exhaust system. I know the stock positioning of the mufflers in most of the G-Bodies is a vertical transverse mounting ahead of the axle. I want to maintain decent ground clearance. I know the LS3 is going to be pretty rumbly, which I'm fine with, but I don't want it to be obnoxiously loud all the time.

I noticed the Dynomax Ultra Flo X seems like it would work in the stock location for a dual-in/dual-out exhaust. The internal baffling is kind of an X-pipe, which would create a virtual true-dual system. Have any of you used this muffler on your cars? Any comment on the sound quality and the durability? Also, is there enough real estate under the car to add some resonators after the cat in case I want to quiet it down a little more. Don't get me wrong, I want to hear that V-8 rumble, but I don't want to draw a lot of attention to myself. I still want it to be a little bit of a "sleeper." Any suggestions for exhaust, muffler, layout, etc. are appreciated.

Wow! I didn't know such an animal existed. Looks like a cool piece...

As far as the benefit of the X, I think it would be too far downstream to provide any kind of scavenging effect. Maybe if it were further forward, like a Corvette........

Take a look on YouTube,About a year ago i found a video of dynomax showing what each of their mufflers sound behind a bbc.they had a set up @ a show that they could rotate each muffler behind that bbc.

There is no reason not to install a "traditional" dual exhaust system under your car. You've got plenty of room under there, even for a full dual 3" mandrel system with a proper x-pipe between the headers and mufflers. Ask me how I know.

Look carefully at that photo. No part of my exhaust system hangs down as low as the bottom of my differential (not even my "custom" header pipe on the right side, LOL). Unless your exhaust installer is drunk on the job, you should have no ground clearance issues whatsoever.
