ah the Metro/Sprint, I'd probably still be driving one if I hadn't had several scary incidents on Oklahoma highways with vehicles significantly larger and drivers significantly more compensating inattentive. Dad still swears by (and at) them but its getting impossible to find survivors.

My parents had a Sprint when I was young. My oldest brother rolled it. Dad was pissed after he bought a Metro to replace it and could only manage high 40s to low 50s. Swears he was doing mid 50s regularly in the Sprint. I had a '92 Metro 2 door manual trans that I got with a bad head gasket. Slapped a new gasket in it and drove it for a year. Sold it to my sister who drove it till the trans wouldn't shift into second gear. She sold it to my Dad who replaced the engine and transmission. He used it to commute to work for 8 years. Sold it to one of my brothers and he is still hammering on that turd. Parents picked up a Prius last fall and this is the first time I haven't heard them b*tch about mileage since the Sprint got wasted. This car gets them low 50s MPG but far more important is that it's actually a nice car. A nice place to be, quiet, and they are really reliable. Only downside is that it's gay.

Hey, if I’m gay for trying to lower my carbon footprint, at my age, I’m just happy to belong somewhere. #greenlesbians

Though I’m not knocking anyone for driving a Gbody out of preference or necessity, when they’re running (details) I drive my ole rods on fair weather days for fun.

But we also figured out how to make a big block Olds run on the CCC to get 20mpg instead of 12 going on 14 yrs ago now. And I’m looking at EFI and gearing solutions for both the 67 and 87 to potentially have even better “on the fly” performance tunes and fuel efficiency tunes. Not sure I’ll get there but always looking and got some ideas.

Since the plant world uses CO2, every single thing that every single person does to move their personal C needle, the closer we will get. Denying the science or just the reality (we just got 17” of rain in May - 30” is normal for the entire year), not giving a **** and, worse, insulting those that do?

Not so much . . .

That's right. All they are doing is renting your roof and paying you diddly. I had a guy who gave me the sales pitch. Best case scenario, I "save" 172.00 per year.

When Solar was new there were plenty of incentives to buy and you could recover the cost in a relatively short time. After that since you owned it the power you made over your own usage you sold back to your local utility. Now most of those incentive have expired and the cost is prohibitive. Enter the Solar leasing companies. Just like leased cars, you are leasing the equipment and never owning it. The power you make after your own usage is still sold to the utilities but the leasing company gives you only a fraction of the return. So you are actually leasing equipment that is mounted on your property and making money for them instead of you. The best is the idiots they send around trying to convince you to sign up. If my roof does not face the Sun, and cannot produce maximum power, why in the world would I get involved with this? Because they lie to you . They make money on you no matter what. I know this because my neighbor is a salesman for one of this outfits and he admits that it is not really to your advantage as much as it is to his company.

I bought and installed a9.2 kw system. So far this year I have paid for 31 kw plus delivery fee of 17 per month. I live in upstate ny and we have great incentives still. I personally do not recommend leasing a system. I see an eight year return on the program. That leaves me about 17 years of benefit should electrical pricing go up. I am looking at battery backup for when power goes out but do have a back up generator for that issue now.
