Run flats don't necessarily stop you from getting leaks, they are just designed to temporarily hold as much air as they can until you can get someone to have the tire replaced. Technically you aren't supposed to fix a leak on a car with runflat tires, but if you do, it basically means you have a normal tire, with a plug in it. I say don't bother with the run flats. They are mainly used on Corvettes and other sports cars so that they don't need to equip a spare, or an air pump to save weight.
