I ran a Meziere electric water pump on my daily driver for years. Never had any problems with it and it worked better than the stock water pump. It was a small block chevy but they make them for BOP engines as well. Flows way more at idle than a belt driven pump ever could (something like 35 gph), and you eliminate a belt driven accessory. You can also wire it so that you can switch it on while the engine is off, to cool down in between dragstrip runs.

I'm using an electric fuel pump but not the water pump. The electric water pump is just not needed in my opinion. They may flow more at low speeds but a stock pump increases its flow the faster the engine spins. An electric pump doesn't.
If you go with an electric fuel pump, do it right and go with Buick GN fuel tank and in-tank Walbro fuel pump. Run a return regulator to get the PSI down to an acceptable level for a carb and your set.
I'd also recommend the Hot Wire kit from Racetronix.
Is this a drag only car or a street car? A fuel cell takes more maintenance than a stock tank. The foam inside the cell degrades over time and needs replaced.
That's not a huge deal if the car is a race car only but when you add all these race car parts to a car your driving on the street, it can get to be a pain.

My car is not a daily driver but it is a street car and I have a 20 gal. aluminum fuel cell with a Paxton 300 feeding my engine and I use a Moroso water pump drive kit mounted to an Edelbrock Victor aluminum water pump and I also have an auxillary back up inline Stewart EMP electric pump.
Other than the Stewart pump the rest of this set up I have been running for 11 years on the street.
The main thing with the electric fuel pumps(especially the bigger race pumps) is make sure it is designed for continous duty if you are doing street driving.

X2. On what Andrew said. I loved the quiet reliable factory in tank setup when I used it with my carberated 442. The electric water pump is interesting for freeing up some HP but the pump manufacturers still say not for street use and I am not sold that they will live for long run time hours. 565 I have great respect for what you have built but for the OP I think you would have to agree its more of an in town street car. As in you are not likely going to jump in it and drive it to say Florida for a car show. Maybe I'm wrong regardless your comment on the rated for continueous duty is key if I guy is trying to make that type setup work for a daily driver capable car.

Ran an adapter and a small block chevy water pump on a 455 for quite some time with no issues. The car was mainly strip with some street duty but turned it back into a more street than strip car so I put a mechanical water pump back on it and then sold the car. Kept the adapter and elect water pump though.

You need to look at the pump flow rates. What does the stock pump flow increase to at faster engine speeds? When I was researching it, the high flow belt driven pumps could only match the flow of the electric pumps at high rpm. The electric I mentioned flows 35 gpm (not gph like I said before) all the time, not just at a certain rpm range. They also make a heavy duty unit that runs at 42 gpm. Both rated for street use. No, you don't need an electric, but the good ones work better than a stock water pump. Although I probably wouldn't think so either if I hadn't tried one.
