An electric water pump is just wasted money for a street car in my opinion. Fact is, a stock pump is plenty capable of cooling even the hottest of engines if you have everything up to snuff with the rest of the system.

But it's his money. I've installed electric fans and there are plenty of people that don't like those either.

So how did you route the belts for the A/C, P/S and alternator around the electric pump?

Guys, we have to look at what he is wanting to do with his car/engine.

If it's a race only car then throw all of the race car goodies at it and have fun.

But a 450HP 455 is, in my mind, a street engine where stock water pumps, fuel pumps, etc. will work just fine.

Nothing looks more stupid that having a fuel cell, electric water pump, etc. on a car that may only run 13's.

Its gonna be a street/strip car thats gonna be driven on the street sometimes but no trips out of town or anything like that. Just cruise sometimes. It will mainly be to run at the drag strip but still streetable when I want it to be.

If your going to run a fuel cell I would recommend an aluminum one with safety foam and a drop sump and 15-20 gal. capacity so you can actually drive somewhere. The plastic cells have a tendency to bow between the straps over time.

As for the water pump maybe consider a pump drive and you can leave your pump on and keep the mounting for most accessory brackets intact, plus if you don't have air you can mount your alternator lower with a direct belt to the crank. I have plenty of accessories without using a water pump pulley.
