When the YouTube series "Roadkill" by Hot Rod Magazine came out a few years back, I was glued to the computer. I absolutely loved it. It showed good, cheap fun bashing and building on cheap cars, which I think is why it did so well. Everything they did was achievable by the average Joe. Nobody wants another dream-come-true Overhaulin' show.

But to me, it seems that since Finnegan and Freiburger got their Dodge sponsorship, they've taken the whole thing upmarket, which is oxymoronic. What I mean is, now to get "all" of the content, you have to pay to subscribe to MotorTrend On Demand, and Roadkill Magazine, not just Hot Rod. Also, the 'frugal factor' has completely walked out the door. Their cars are still ugly, but they are anything but cheap. The General Mayhem now has an OhMaGod-expensive 707 hp HellCat motor in it, which is great, but they didn't even install it. The last car they did was a Cummins powered junkyard Cadillac with a sawed off roof, but is anyone REALLY interested in crappy 80s Cadillacs with a half-*ss installed Cummins? And again, Finnegan and Freiburger didn't really even install it, Tony Angelo and Lucky Costa did. These are just a few examples.

I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I'm losing interest fast. Am I the only one who is thinking this?

Ya I liked the first episodes and enjoy the engine masters stuff. But I agree that now that they are sponsored it doesn't really interest me. However, I think a lot of guys like to see the really expensive junk.

Yeah I've also found that the content of the shows as of late (pretty much since they got sponsored) hasn't been as fun to watch. Not to mention that this whole MTOD thing is getting annoying, those of us who haven't joined yet probably won't and they're kind of beating a dead horse now.

I agree, the MTOD is total BS. I have nothing wrong with capitalism, but it seems they are trying to wring every last penny out of their customers and now people (including myself) are starting to feel taken advantage of.

On top of the fact that it seems like they are running out of content. Out of the last 10 or 12 episodes, the ONLY one I enjoyed was the Nascarlo build. It seems like they are inventing content.

Although, I am interested to see what the episode with MCM will be like. I think it'll be interesting mashing two similar mindsets with different applications together.

I think its fair to say the they "jumped the shark".

I'm not. Two Australians who play with subarus and Mitsubishis together with two Americans who work on rusty junkyard iron? Maybe they'll work on rusty Mitsubishis? "Who's into rusty Mitsus?"-comes to mind. It just doesn't sound interesting to me.

Well put. Glad I'm not the only one who feels this way.

I think that the show was better prior to the pre-Dodge sponsorship. Now I watch the Finnegan's Garage more. It seems as if they ran out of ideas or they are told do this by sponsors. I have noticed that there are a lot more Mopar items now too. Before is was whatever was around.

I really enjoyed the first couple episodes with the convertible buick, the Pontiac Catlina and the leaf blower Monza. Basically once they got Jegs sponsorship I lost interest. The 383 swap in Summit parking lot, or putting $5k worth of JEGS parts on the Draguar. Hardly cost effective, but its just another way to keep those sponsors happy. Jegs, Dodge, whomever is next, it will all be the same shtick. My kid loves it, I will watch it but don't seek it out like I did at first
I like Finnegans garage too but grow tired of his loosely veiled begging for sponsorship money every episode as well.

I recently found Invincible Extremes. This guy tows with a 68 Firebird and rebuilds wrecks on the cheap!

A lot of programs are sponsored by Dodge lately. They can't make it in today's car market so they have decided to focus on performance cars and pay a lot for their advertising. With a few exceptions, Dodge / Chrysler cars have always been a poorly engineered vehicle in my opinion and like a red headed step child they have been trying to keep up with the industry leaders.
