When the YouTube series "Roadkill" by Hot Rod Magazine came out a few years back, I was glued to the computer. I absolutely loved it. It showed good, cheap fun bashing and building on cheap cars, which I think is why it did so well. Everything they did was achievable by the average Joe. Nobody wants another dream-come-true Overhaulin' show.
But to me, it seems that since Finnegan and Freiburger got their Dodge sponsorship, they've taken the whole thing upmarket, which is oxymoronic. What I mean is, now to get "all" of the content, you have to pay to subscribe to MotorTrend On Demand, and Roadkill Magazine, not just Hot Rod. Also, the 'frugal factor' has completely walked out the door. Their cars are still ugly, but they are anything but cheap. The General Mayhem now has an OhMaGod-expensive 707 hp HellCat motor in it, which is great, but they didn't even install it. The last car they did was a Cummins powered junkyard Cadillac with a sawed off roof, but is anyone REALLY interested in crappy 80s Cadillacs with a half-*ss installed Cummins? And again, Finnegan and Freiburger didn't really even install it, Tony Angelo and Lucky Costa did. These are just a few examples.
I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I'm losing interest fast. Am I the only one who is thinking this?
