no heated garage, but it is attached to my house so I just use a electric heater

I have a wood stove at my house. My old shop had an in-wall unit like that. Those things are nice. 75,000 BTU's is plenty of heat. Looks nice sounds expensive. No matter what the concrete will still be ice cold

Forced air is the absolute worst IMO

As soon as the air stops so does the heat.

I have it in my house and HATE it.

If you have gas or propane in your house this is a great heater.

My father in law has it. His garage is 24x24, 12ft high walls with a 14ft peak. (has a lift)

It gets so hot in there sometimes we open up the garage door about a foot.

Best of all....all you need to do is bolt it to the wall and hook it up and it comes with the thermostat !

No vent No chimney. And they are cheap 240 to your door!! Had it for over 5 years now with ZERO problems

have it hooked up to the gas line

he hasn't really noticed much difference in his bill to turn it off which is why we open the door about a foot when it gets to hot

Turna, I've looked at those, and there are only two words keeping me from buying one: vent-free. There seem to be two concerns about those. They vent exhaust back into the room, and (my main concern) they vent moisture back into the room. The safety of the first issue is debatable, but I just don't think warm, moisture rich air is a good thing in a building where tools and cars and metal will be stored. Although it is probably not as much of an issue if the door is open a bit. Hmmm. If they made one with an outside vent option though, they would probably be at the top of my list. But maybe I'll have to rethink that.

I am favoring the idea of a permanent-style heater over the portable contractor kerosene models, though.

I have 22 x 30 garage. 75,000 BTU forced air garagae heater bought at northern tool in the spring for $270. Normally about $500. 60,000 Btu would have been sufficent, but they didn't sell that size. I am happy with it. Still wish I had in floor radiant heat. That way the concrete is nice and warm. If I ever build a new garage that will be the way I go. In floor off-peak electric radiant heat.

Never had any type of dampness/moisture issue and i port heads so there is plenty of bare metal in the garage.

But if that is your concern they do make a vented version as well. I don't think Harbor has it though

Ok, good to know. I do similar work at times, so that was a concern of mine. I'll check the manufacturers website for a vented version. Is the flame ever an issue? Can you, say... change a fuel filter in the garage, or would you shut it off to do something like that? Hope that isn't a stupid question, I've just never had a heater like that before.
