Being that I am a renter, I have a Ready-heater brand 115,000btu in my 24x22. It is a Kerosene heater, which by the way you can run Diesel Fuel in most of them, even if they don't say it on there(in which case only a 50/50 mix is recommended). I run diesel in mine all the time to keep heating cost down, since it's over a $1.00 a gallon cheaper. Nice thing with this unit, is it can go wherever I go, if buddy calls and needs help on something, sometimes I take my heater with me!
If I did not rent I would be all about the Corn stove(NOT JUST A PELLET STOVE), Living in Wisconsin I can get corn to burn dirt cheap, and though a corn stove can run upward of $2000+, it will pay itself off fast. Cost to run one for me is only about $100 a year, due to family farming ties on discounted corn. Down side, they are known to burn sooty, high in carbon(I won't even get into the homeowner's insurance, expensive).
My dad has a wall mounted rear vented propane heater, styled very similar to the one pictured above. It works well, he hasn't ever had any problems with it. We kinda argued about propane Vs. natural gas, I said he should get a natural gas one(to me it makes more sense, it's there on demand, no extra room needed for a tank, investment cost of a tank(or renting one, even worse), tank needs to be outside of the building by code(so an added eye sore in the yard), 100lb propane tanks cannot leave to the local AGA Gas filling station unless they are in an upright position(in a the bed of a truck, strapped to the bulkhead) they will not let you put your 100lp tank in the trunk of your car.) But even though I would not stop with the good reasons to natural, he had no choice, his wife would not stand for a substantial permanent percentage raise on their monthly public service bill. So yea, they are a decent unit, adequately priced, and work well, my dad's is now 6 years old and is trouble free(were as I on the other hand, must tune up my Ready Heater every other year).
