i need to know how to remove and install those white tabs that hold the stainless steel chrome moldings on the bottom of my doors on my 86 cutlass salon.I opened the door the other day and noticed a 'new' sound coming from my door, the bottom of about two or three tabs are broken and made the moldings shake a lot when the door opens and closes.AND one question. will buick gn door molding tabs work on my 86 cutlass?

im not sure what tabs you mean. do you have a picture? is it the door panel itself, or is it on the body of the car?

I am pretty as long as the trim is the same width i don't see why not they wouldn't fit. I think on both ends of the trim there is one tab with a stud that goes through the door. It has a nut that you take off and then you slide the trim out towards the rear very carefully so you don't break the rest. Then the retainers slide up then to the side to remove from the studs.

the ones that hold the chrome molding on the outside of the door, they also are called lower door molding clips, they should be white,i hope that cleared that up,but i'm purchasing new ones off of gbodyparts.com

after you remove the nuts at each end of the trim you push the trim up until you can release the top lip of the trim from the clip and then slide it down to remove it from the two fingers that hold it in place. It's then easy to see how the clips are removed from the pins.
