Anyone try using a 8.5 from a camaro, i know you would have to put the p
Brackets on but i couldnt tfind any info on length of the camaro, theres alot more out there and i just found a 8.5 out if camaro cheeper that the gn one but not sure if its to long .

8.5s were only used in the 2nd gen and maybe the 1st gen, i can't remember. There is really no reason to go through that much trouble with one of those since they require so much fab work. If you don't mind welding, there is always the caprice 8.5 but as far as i know no one makes upper control arms for it and you would have to narrow it and relocate the spring perches as lower control arm perches also, as well as drill the axles to the right bolt circle. third gen and up only had 7.5/7.625 rears except for a tiny amount of dana 44 thirdgens and some thirdgens that had a borg warner unit that had a 9 bolt cover.

Go. With an a body rear. The 10 bolts are cheep and available. Because everyone goes 12 bolt. An a body 10 bolt is almost a direct swap with after market upper contole arms from umi or iceman racing. Also even a 8.2 is better than a 7.5

that are not too expensive but not that easy to find. It took me almost a year to find my 8.2 3.08 posi and it cost me $600. I like the 8.2 cause they are not heavy and take up to 500 hp

Something to think about ,i heard the a body would work but not 100% on the years ive heard 64-72 a body is that correct? I was wondering cut itooked like a 8.5 had the right ears at the bottom but said it was from a camaro looked and said it was a 8.5 . Thanks guys going back and forth have a guy offering me a 7.5 posi 373 for 500.

No everyone goes with a 9 inch. If I had my choice of rearends to use it definatley be a 12 bolt because I refuse to pay $1000 for a stock 8.5 and I refuse to put a FORD part in my GM.

The A Body one will fit with the right upper arms. Search out a 71-71 from a Skylark or Cutlass. These will have bolt in axles and are quite strong.

Ok some go with a 9 inch. But 10 bolts are good enough for a lot of people who don't need a 12 bolt.. its like going hunting with a tank... The end result is the same but its a bit over kill and a lot more expensive. I have seen plenty of cheap 8.2s on Craigslist from people taking them out of there a bodys to put in a 12 bolt.
