I am in a mid Atlantic state where most people drive economy boxes, crossovers, small pickups, etc. V8 powered stuff in the yards is simply rare unless its old. Also heard of LS scalpers who clear out junkyards to resell online at an upcharge. I seen signs of scalpers in my local yards as any carbed engine is always missing its aircleaner.
seen signs? hell, I went to a U-pull-it jyard about 5 yrs ago to get a replacement a/c compressor for my '99 Suburban. swear to God, I walked down one row of GM/Chev Suburbans/Tahoes/trucks where nine in a row had the hoods propped open. you could tell they were recent arrivals due to almost everything still being there. guess which part, the ONLY PART, was missing under the hood? yeah, the a/c compressor I needed

on that same trip, I watched the frontloader bring out a decent looking '70-80s Chev truck. I literally saw 3 different GROUPS of guys (obviously scavengers) attack it within 5 minutes of each other, two of them simultaneously

A quick check on FB marketplace shows multiple 5.3's in the $500-700 range, an lq4 for $800, and an lq9 for $900. All complete with accessories, wiring, ecm. This is eastern PA.

I don't. I can't if I just read through 13 pages of these shenanigans 🙂

You sound like a Cowboys fan. BTW, that's a compliment if you are one and slam if you aren't.

I think he's stalking you because the word on the street is you have a hot :

Does that include transmissions? More than once I had engine sellers who wanted to charge extra for parts after I showed up, quickly walked away. Still high for used engines with an unkown history IMO.

An LS is the only reason a Mustang owner keeps their Mustang.

3 rules that apply to all of life : To each his own. What comes around goes around. Watch your own ****in' bobber and I'll watch mine.

In stock form : superior cylinder head, 5 4 bolt mains and BUTTRESS bolts, and a real man's connecting rod. Mix that with the GM mentality towards part interchangeability (like they did through the 60's-90's with a SBC) and you'll have a desirable and superior platform that is affordable.

FWIW, I'm not an LS fan.................but............I have two G's that I've LS swapped.............why? See above^^^^^^^^^^

That's a solid price for all......particularly the lq9. And if you are concerned about getting junk......hold out for one that you can hear run....or buy a complete vehicle.

Does it matter?

TH400 FTW. 4L80 FTW with overdrive. And interchange parts from your '78 TH400 into your 4L80 (what was GM thinking???????????). Ya know Mopar was onto something with 727 Torqueflite, then..........they discontinued it.

If you want to know what I despise? the 9" is the end all to every rear end swap. But wait, I'm one of the same hypocrites with an 8.8 in my LS swapped G. So what does that make me?

Clone TIE Pilot Built6spdMCSS 87National you guys need to calm down and stop the hating. Life is way easier following rule one - to each his own. Perhaps try 69hurstolds ' program of sitting on your hands until they are numb and..........you know the rest.

Kinda of if one is starting with a base V6 with a TH200.

I tried offering Built6spmcss a ceasefire deal but he quickly rejected it. Its clear he enjoys stirring sh*t while accusing others of it, perhaps because he is bored, sigh.
