Emotional attachment to the arguments for and against car stuff is part of life. I get it. But some people seem to take it to a bit extreme here, though. No need for personal insults. That NEVER helps your position, at least not for me. It just shows me you've run out of ideas at that point. And to think, inflation is still going, and gas prices are still high. Anecdotal evidence that arguing over engine choices solves nothing. For every engine choice, I can probably come up with 4 reasons why it's stupid, and 4 reasons why it makes sense. Regardless of what it is. But, when the EV crowd starts arguing swapping capacitors and electrical stuff, that's when I'm stepping off the bus because by then, I'm done.
I'm a f**king Oldsmobile guy first and foremost. I'll always be an Oldsmobile guy. I don't care if they're fast or not, and I don't care about gas mileage. I don't even care if you care. I haven't sat down and actually measured MPG in over 20 years. I have other cars with LS engines in them from the factory I can beat on for going fast and zipping around corners while staying on all 4 tires. I've had an LS engine or 3 in some form or another for the last 20 years, so when I see LS swaps into other cars, to me it's just another LS. Sorry, I just can't get excited about it. So enjoy it.
I will never swap an LS engine into any Oldsmobile that I own, or ever own in the future. That's a solemn promise. Not because I hate LS engines. It's because I happen to enjoy an Olds V8 engine in an Olds car and for me, that's what I want. You can call it a GM corporate engine all you like, you'll never convince me otherwise that it's not an Olds engine. You swap it in yours? Go for it. I've got no money invested in it, do what you like. I'm very happy to
not know all the nuances and headaches of swapping in an LS engine into a G-body. But they're there. See it in many threads. Unfortunately, I can't help you. Proudly, I have no expertise in that area.
First world problems.
