ARGH! Why won't my tach reset to ZERO after each start? It seems to keep 500 or so rpms.

Well.....I give up...........soldered the copper wire to V8 contact and Tach still will not reset to zero when ignition is turned on.
Keeps adding 100 or so rpms on every start so I assume the tach is the issue........no joy here...nothing to see please move on.
