Astro/Safari Hydro Boost Brake

You won't be sorry. Even if you have enough vacuum to where you don't need hydroboost I think the pedal feel is better. Im trying to talk my dad into ditching the electric vacuum pump on his 68 4-4-2 and go hydroboost.
Thanks man! I feel that it's got to be an improvement over the vacuum booster. So... did you have to plumb a "T" into the power steering hose? I'm assuming the high pressure hose.

I guess it would certainly benefit guys running high lift cams who are experiencing vacuum too low for power assisted brakes.

No "T" needed. Just ran the normal pressure line from the pump to the hydroboost pump. Then a pressure line from the hydroboost pump to the steering box. You use the factory steering box return line but have to add a return line from the hydro pump back to the power steering reservoir. I drilled a hole in the top of the power steering pump and added a -6AN bulkhead fitting. Then ran a braided -6AN hose from the hydro return fitting to the PS pump. Super easy. The hydroboost is basically plumbed in between the PS pump and the steering box. This is the only pic I have currently.

Thank you for that information. So basically the hydro-boost is installed inline with the steering box...gotcha! That's good information..

There's a guy on the OCA facebook page that's running '93 Astro hydroboost on his '84 Cutlass, says it works like a charm. I definitely like a hard pedal (I've been driving my Gutlass essentially without power brakes for 7 months) and the Astro definitely has a nice, firm pedal. I've pondered the idea of Hydroboost in my Cutlass. My brother's ex-diesel Caprice also had a very nice, firm pedal. It would definitely make a worthwhile swap
