one of my big concerns that i have looked for and haven't found is, what do you do with the steering collum? it locks when your in park and you cant take the key out unless its locked

Find an authentic manual trans steering column with a key release lever. It's one of the coolest features of my own swap, but no one ever notices...

Good luck finding one for a G-Body... your best bet there is finding a 1st gen S10 with a manual trans and stealing the guts from its steering column. A competent shop should be able to convert your G-Body column over. It won't be model-correct, but it will work.
