i found this tach for my regal, and i really like the looks of it. i think the face kinda looks like the speedometer. from what i understand, auto meter makes a pretty good product, too. anyone here have auto meter tachs? do you like them, or have you had any trouble with them? all feedback appriciated.

This is the tach in my regal, It has been in multiple vehicles and I have never had a problem with it. It has yet to be hooked up in the regal though, only required one new hole behind the gauge surround and used two existing holes for the gauge surround to mount it with a bracket I made that looks like the one sold by; http://www.gnsperformance.com/products/tachbracket.html I am awaiting the motor swap to hook it up.

I'm debating whether to drill right into the gauge surround or not. My dash isn't that great so I really wouldn't feel that bad about doing it, but then the tach isn't removable.

I wish I took a picture of the mount I made but it is very close to the one in that link. I am bad at taking pictures of anything, let alone any work I do to my car. There are no visible holes even when the mount is removed, I would recommend either making one or buying one from the link I posted.

Well I do have a ton of sheet metal laying around. I could try making one.

Its not hard but it does need to be made out of a thicker metal, or it will vibrate really bad. I think i used 1/8 inch plate but could be wrong. I do believe the one made by GNS is even thicker, the only thing I noticed on mine is it makes the gauge surround not sit flat anymore. But it was a trade off for no holes that I can deal with.
