axle length

I need to know the length of a stock axle in a 3.08 rear end. Rear end is in a el camino. Also the number of splines. Looking to get a good street posi unit.

Stock axle length on a g-body rearend is 28 7/16. spline count could be 26 or 28. what year is the rear?

it'd be a 26 spline....the only 28 spline axles were used in the Metric 8.5 rear end and in some of the 7 5/8 f body rear end.....

One last question

This elky has a 7.5 rear end. Are there any variations of this size rear end that effects what type of posi gear set up you get?

you can go with a 7.5 or a 7 5/8 rear end from an f body....some of the 7 5/8 were 28 spline so you could use the GN axles from an 8.5 rear which gives you a stronger axle.
