guys what is the best option for you batter if you will be away from your car for few months? battery do I take it out the car and put in garage or just disconnect it?

It depends really. If its winter and you are leaving the car outside with no intent to move it, pull the battery and put it in the garage. If its 6 or more months and its not freezing temperatures I would disconnect it and leave it in the car so that the radio or clock or whatever doesn't kill it. IF its inside, the other choice is put a battery tender on it, and leave it alone.

thanks for the advice. it will be november until may so i will disconnect and put battery in garage...

Be a good idea to put a tender on it while in garage anyway, batteries seem to do better when there's some activity through them. They also are supposed to keep the plates from getting sulfate buildup.

I bought a cheap Schumacher from WalMart probably 10 years ago, gave it to my buddy for his Corvette, got it back 4 years ago when he sold it, still works great....avatar is on it as we speak.

If there is any chance it will die in the freezing temps. You need to avoid that. It will freeze and there is no coming back from that.

So what's the actual life span of a battery without the help of a tender just an occasional start 12-18 months 2years? The factory battery lasted on my envoy from 04-2020 really good new battery not so long just changed it last month so about 14 months. My 08 ss cobalt factory battery lasted till March of 2020 and I changed it because the alternator died and it made it to the next town so 12 years on that, new battery 1 year exactly replaced it on warranty. I'm starting to think they make them with thinner plates so you have to keep coming back. Even my Optima yellow top sucked ,I'm hoping these interstate batteries last

If you kill a one day old battery and it freezes, it's garbage. For a battery to make it past ten years, it's on borrowed time. It may still start the car but you can't play the radio with the door open for an hour.
For me, it does seem like daily driver's get the best battery life. Must be something about cycling them constantly and they are almost always full charge. I've had many garaged/stored cars that only get driven a few times a year, those batteries do not seem to last long.

Not sure about plate thickness but the plates all slowly corrode. If the flakes of corrosion have a place to fall, below the plates. Battery is still good. Once those flake accumulate at the bottom and touch the plates, it become less powerful.
