So the 454 has barely been in my Malibu for a year and I already feel the need to tinker.

The end result I'm looking for is a good streetable propane motor that will like tall gears, while keeping my stock hood unmolested (and on the car.) I'm on the lookout for a set of heads to replace my peanut port ones, and i'd probably have them milled to bump up the compression. Currently the car has a TH400 and 2.28 gears. I'm willing to go lower on the gears, but not more than 2.73's. As it stands now I can make the diesel guys jaws drop out on the highway, and i'd like to keep it that way. I have a mid 80's 700R4 at my disposal, not sure if it will hold up though.

With the stock intake, I had to cut away some hood insulation to clear my breather on my OHG mixer (carb.) I'm researching to find out if I can run a plenum on my intake and mount the mixer off to the side, much like you would with a turbo-propane setup. This would give me way more options for an intake.

How high compression can I go? What will it take to get there? Can I avoid the lower gears a big cam would want by running a 700r4? Should I just bolt on a turbo and see what happens? Would I be further ahead just banging my head against a wall?
