BBC swap shorty headers?

I've searched many threads about this with no straight answer...

Can i use shorty headers on my 454 in my malibu? I know theres gbody BBC swap headers that are around $600, then some people say BBC a-body headers work with minimal modification, for only $200.

I'm not going crazy with this build, and will use the stock manifolds if they will work, but if not, does anyone know if a standard set of shorties will work?

The shorty headers are almost the same as stock exhaust manifolds as far as outside clearances. I have a set of cast iron manifolds on mine right now and they clear everything....including the four speed stuff.
