My newest adddition 85 brougham has the bench and i have my same color maroon buckets and rear seat i want to change and put in, but im pretty sure you need to make brackets for the seat mounts by the trans tunnel right? how can i do this or is there somehwhere i can buy aftermarket ones? or do i need to go to the junkers and take some previoud bucket seat brackets, cut them out and remount them in ?
detail and all the info would help?thanks

If it is a split bench, the brackets will all be there from the factory. If it is a single bench, you will need to add the center 4 brackets. In any case, you will need the corresponding console brackets too. I needed to replace one of mine due to rust and drilled out the 12 spot welds with a cordless drill in order to pull it. A cordless Sawzall would also do the trick if you can drill a hole to start it with. Then it is simply a matter of removing excess metal ( If you cut the floor to take them) with an angle grinder and welding them to the floor using either a wire feed (MIG) welder or a TIG welder. Use the seat with the tracks attached to obtain positioning then take a marker and make alignment lines to position the brackets. Remove the seat before welding and tack the brackets in. test fit, then plug weld them in place. Wire brush any burnt paint away then prime with a zinc primer. Paint it with some Rustoleum and you are done! Don't forget to paint the underside of the pan too as the heat will destroy the paint underneath it. Also, if you have undercoating, be careful that you have a hose or fire extinguisher nearby so you don't start a fire you can't put out. Also remember to cover your glass well so that it doesn't get pitted from welding sparks.....don't ask me how I know... You also want to remove your interior panels and cover the dash up too. Anything that can get damaged by welding will get damaged by welding if you fail to take the appropriate steps to safeguard these parts.

You should be able find the brackets at the junk yard from any g-body 78-88 that had either the split bench or buckets. The brackets are the same. You can also buy them from Dixie Monte Carlo Parts. I think they wanted over $100 for them. Probably only cost you $10 or $20 from a junk yard. Like 85 Cutlass said, they are easy to remove, just drill out the spot welds.

I just noticed he has a Brougham. That means the car has the 60/40 bench and the brackets are already there.

No problem. However, when you take out the seat you may wish to take off the sill plates and look under the carpet for rust. Mine was at it's worst under the brackets and the reinforcement that runs from side to side. I wound up cutting out the floor and seat bracket on one side to replace them. I didn't want to fall through the floor...🙁
