IIRC they are an odd ball block. most of the other blocks have many interchangeable parts, but they don't fit the 366. it also has a smaller than usual bore or bore to stroke ratio. if he has a complete one there's no reason not to use it, but i wouldn't build one. parts are very rare=expensive.

not 100%, but pretty sure.

The 366 is a truck engine. Industrial applications etc. The Deck or top of the block where the heads bolt on is about an inch taller. Also the 366 had 4 piston rings instead of the traditional 3. There is a few companies that make intake manifolds for this motor but they are expensive. Some older drag racers used this motor because of the piston using 4 rings and they would stroke to a 427. Unless you have deep pockets then you could build it. Also custom set of headers would have to be made to fit in a G Body and the Valve Covers would probably hit on the HVAC Box.

I believe the 366 is in the same category as a 427 tall deck truck motor isn't it? They will make decent power but there is not really a large aftermarket parts world for them.
Throw a custom ground cam in it, have the heads and intake ported and polished and make yourself a set of headers and possibly a sheet metal intake. I do believe the entire rotating assembly in these engines were completely forged, so nothing needed there. If you have the block bored your could probably find some aftermarket pistons for it though.

They are not completely undesireable engines, just expect to pay some good money to make one put out "Big Block" power.

It is a medium and heavy duty truck (Top Kick/Kodiak, etc.) engine that is not well suited for performance applications. It really is of too little displacement for the weight penalty incurred by the big block, plus the tall deck height (not 100% sure, but med. duty truck BBC's usually are) means that it is both heavier and larger than a traditional passenger car BBC. The heads are also practically worthless as anything more than a door stop because they have tiny ports that are well suited to building low RPM torque in an industrial application, but are entirely unsuitable in a high performance car application. Dollar for dollar, you will get better performance out of a 350, 383, or 400 SBC than this engine. I would advise not using it. If your heart is set on a BBC, get a more common 454 instead as it at least has displacement on it's side.

on the lighter side he COULD put this in his g body put some dually wheels on the back put fifty million gears in it and throw a fold up tow arm in the trunk. OPERATION REPO anyone? lols
