well the cheapest way to help stop some of it may be por-15, but the best way is to cut it out and replace... if not rusted all the way through, you can try to sand down and por-15 it, sometimes its effective over rust and can be painted over...

To fix it properly, you'll have to blast the metal clean, cut out the rust and weld in new metal.
For that damage on the roof the interior and rear windows will have to come out.

this would be the #1 best way to deal with the cancer so that it will not come back.

Another suggestion is to grind down the area so that there's clean metal or as much clean metal as you can get. Use POR-15 products to convert the rust and seal it. I have used POR-15 with nothing but success. As with any body- filler pay attention to the way you are mixing the hardener into the filler, pull it across, don't use a folding action. This will prevent air bubbles in the filler, if this is not done correctly eventually the bodywork will rust through again or bubble. Also with any filler being used , it must be sprayed with a primer of some type when the sanding work is done. I have seen too many people slap bondo onto their cars and don't put primer or a top coat over it. Body filler is typically very hydroscopic ( has an affinity for water, and sucks it up like a sponge)

So basically what you guys are saying is that we need to cut out the roof and weld a new section in? That actually doesnt sound like its that hard to do, but the thing were concerned about is removing the rear window. Keep in mind that there were only 1,225 of these windows made, so there not easy to come by. Even if we get the window out no problems, where are we gonna get the seal for the window? Unless the old one ends up being reusable but I doubt it. The only way I think you could get a rear seal is from Lauren Engineering, but you cant get the seal itself, you have to order the package tray aswell, and thats $700. Ok guys we really need help here...

dream...I hate to tell you but sometimes there are no short cuts and there is no choice for the parts you need...when your working on a car that had a very limited production it is what it is...

i agree that you should do it right eventually. but if money is tight and u need to stop the water leak. use epoxy patty. grind off the rust, fill it with epoxy putty, sand it to make it smooth, a thin layer of bondo and it will last ALONG time. i use this method on my winter beater and it works great. just remember this might last a long time but if you actually care about this car and want to keep it make sure that as soon as you have the money you get it fixed properly.

POR15 before you fill or the filler will hide any more rust before you can see it. You could have a glass company pull the windows out for you if it's something you don't want to tackle.

Honestly the easiest quickest way to keep the water from getting in before you can do the body work is some clear silicone. It will keep the water out of the gap between the Roof and the seal until you get it fixed.
