I thought I was the only one having such a hard time! Thanks guys! Now when I weld it up how should I prevent myself from leveling my garage since the mount is right next to the gas tank?

I probably shouldn't, but when welding near the gas tank I use a street sign that I "found" as a shield between the tank and the action. So far so good.

sign...

i'd suggest removing the gas tank for safety reasons. you want to spend a few extra minutes working on the car or a few weeks in a burn unit? where they will literally scrub all the dead skin off of you while you are awake with no pain killers. take your chances if you want, i wouldnt.

I was just ribbing Mark. We have all taken shortcuts we know we shouldn't but with the experience Mark has I'm sure it wasn't too dangerous. After it's the fumes that are the dangerous part of gas and they don't accumulate in that area...

Of course G_Body_Enthusiast is correct, safety first.I will say that when I do something like that,I am scared shitless.
