I put some filler on my car today in about 40-45 degrees farenheit weather. It seems fine, maybe took 15 minutes to solidify but otherwise seems ok. I know you aren't supposed to use filler in cold weather but for the next 4-5 days it is going to be in the 20s-30s here so I wanted to get it on today while it was still in the 40s. Maybe I'm just being anal retentive, but should my filler be okay seeing as I applied it in somewhat colder weather? I just want to make sure it will adhere properly and not chip/fall off later. I used Bondo Professional Gold Filler, btw. The can said 45 degrees as minimum temp.

The filler will be fine, it will harden in a freezer because its a chemical reaction. However you should spray some form of primer over it each time you walk away from it even if you are not done, body filler absorbs a tremendous amount of moisture out of the air and can cause problems, this happens more likely when it's cold out

Ok, I just want to make sure it isn't going to be cracking/peeling off in a few months because I applied it when it was cold out. Now that I think about it, it may have been the slightest bit thicker than usual but nothing tremendous. I ask because I keep hearing people say it won't adhere properly and will fall out, but nobody can name a specific instance where this has happened. Thanks though Fox80.

fox brings up a good point but I would use a sealer instead of the primer. Primer is porous

I won't be leaving it sit for any longer than a couple days, maybe 2 at max.

fox is right about doing it each time right after you finish working on it

Okay. It's a little too cold and too late at this point to go back in the garage to spray primer but I will put a coat of primer on first thing in the morning.

Epoxy primer is what is called for in ICAR and ASE under the filler and in between coats, if your not done sanding I use spray can gray primer, that is just lacquer primer but as long as you sand it all off before you final prep it you will be fine.

I've been using a 1K rattle can primer from transtar, the guy who is painting the car (professional body man w/ 45 years experience) said it would be fine to spray my regular paint over top of it.
