Out of an 87 Monte Carlo . What should I be looking for when taking it apart. Like potential issues.
Here are some pics
The person i purchased it from said it was from a running 87 Monte Carlo , the transmission was supposedly rebuilt with less than 100 miles on it.do you know if it ran before it was removed from the car it was in and what are your plans for it? If you are going to rebuild it you can rebuild a 350 for about the same money and you'll get more out of it.
i haven't got to taking apart the engine yet, but from a quick look around I saw no cracks, the oil looked decent wasn't black. I don't have the tools to test compression ( that I know of ) I was planning on replacing a portion of the components piston ring, plugs etc ( things like that)How do the plugs look? Does it look clean inside (under valve covers)? If you have a bore scope or if you pull the heads does it have a ridge at the top of the cylinders? How does the oil look? You could check compression before you tear into it. If you tear into it you could inspect/plastigauge the bearings.

110,000, i picked both the engine and transmission for $350 so it might be a hit or missHow many miles does it supposedly have?
