I am trying to get rid of, alter, change the brake booster (84 El Camino, the one in my sig)... I want to shave the firewall and was looking at a reverse 90 degree brake booster/master cylinder setup, i was told it wouldn't work... does anyone know what I can do to either get rid of the stock setup and upgrade... I thought i saw someone without a booster on the firewall, but cant find em...

i need to at least move the master cylinder back, to make room for my engine project... trying to find the most cost effective manner, the only other alternative i wanna say the guy told me several thousand for it, and it was some sort of set up that was mounted on the frame, I wanna see if this is possible without costing an arm and a leg...

The only cost efficient space saver I can think of is switching over to hydroboost. That doesn't really address what you're trying to do though.

Someone was selling a machined adapter plate to convert to manual brakes. I don't recall exactly where I saw them. But if I get a revelation and remember where I saw it, I'll post the info.
I believe it was to eliminate the brake booster.

I believe it was a private individual who made up several of them. They were nicely made and inexpensive.

I don't know why but that is halarious

Your idea is very cool and may be something that you will have to make. There has to be some way to fabricate a booster that can be mounted on the inside under the dash, but the air duct work would have to be removed. And then the master cylinder would be mounted in the same location as if you had manual brakes
Just an idea

When I went to manual brakes on my firebird, I just removed the booster and bolted the master straight to the firewall, no brackets. Anyway, street rodders have been hiding the booster under the dash for years. Don't know if it would work on a g-body, but look at the street rod sites. I've seen it before. Mounting the master under the floorboards creates it's own set of problems. Not that it can't be done, I just don't think it will be beneficial to what you're trying to do.

Pick up a copy of Street Rodder magazine or cruise their site. Those guys come up with lots of good ideas.

you can remove the booster and bolte the master straight to the firewall on a F body, the firewall is not on an angle like the G body is so you do need an adapter on the G body.....If you do go to manual you really should use something to make the firewall stronger to stop it from flexing
