I posted before about pulsation in my brakes. the problem is worse then I thought. A few days ago and today under heavy braking, I noticed a lot of smoke coming from my driver tire. So now I know its one of 3 things, brake cylinder, brake master cylinder, or perhaps just the rotors, im going to the shop on next friday, they said they would do the rotors, wheel bearings, and pads for 120 in labor. Although I dont think its the wheel bearings now. i think its the caliper that is sticking and the rotor may be warped as well. Anyone got suggestions on how I should tackle this.

Perhaps skip the wheel bearings? till I know they are bad. skip the brake pads, or are they contaminated? should I get new ones just to be safe?

If your brakes are pulsating, then your rotors are warped.

If your brakes are smoking, then your calipers are dragging, meaning that your pads a now toast as well.

Plan on replacing all those things... calipers, pads, and rotors.
Don't forget the grease seals for the inner wheel bearing.
If you don't replace your wheel bearings while everything is apart, at least clean and re-pack them with fresh grease.

so what does is it mean to have the callipers dragging? are they junk
either the caliper or brake hose is junk. to find out which, open the bleeder. if it frees up, you need a hose, if it doesnt free up, you need a caliper.

well

I jacked my car up earlier today and was pressing on the brakes hard, but the break pads dont appear to be seized in any way to the rotor at all? can you explain this? It doesnt even appear that the caliper is sticking. I have a lot of brake dust though, and the wheel gets hot as **** too after a long drive. There is no sound at all to make it believe its the wheel bearing agin either. coulndt just be the rotor heating up causing the pads to seize to it?

you may need grease on your front rotors, take your front wheels off and see how much drag you have also you may have too much or not enough

Since when do you grease the rotors? Wheel bearings, yes, rotors, NO!

well i figured if you took of the rotor you would know what needs to be greased, but if you thought about placing grease on your braking surface then you need more than this forum for help
