As the Title says, I'm seriously looking at an '86 Grand Prix LE Ttop... after several failed attempts on various '78-80 LeMans', an '80 Malibu, and a '79 Grand Am... This ole girl struck a chord with me. She definately has some issues, but she's not a total mess. Driver's floor pan is toast, small hole in the driver's trunk pan seam, door bottoms are shot, driver's seat fabric is pretty shredded, radio is MIA/wiring is a mess, carpet is disgusting, driver's door panel is junk... Ttop channel looks really nice, but the seals are shot... Frame is good but signs of a rear pass straightening. She's a 305 car w/ 200R4, gauges (no tach), a few power options, deluxe interior, and a stock rear sway bar... she also has the aluminum rear bumper brace, full compliment of rear trunk braces, and a healthy 305/Trans. I took a spin up to look at her and told the guy Im very serious about it... Wifey is a little unimpressed about the rot issues, but Eh.. its all good... LOL.

Since youre from MA.if you buy the car and need parts there is a yard on rte1 wrentham/foxboro line,Turnpike auto i believe the name is.they have 3 GPs out back.

one has decent brown interior.no doors as i need 2 myself.

There is a 79 gp at GAW in walpole i think it is.used to be goldies.has nice maroon bucket seat, console shift interior.missing lower door panels,i bought them.everything but the rear plastic will fit the 86.its also a 301car incase you were considering swapping to pontiac power.

Thanks for the heads up on the cars, but I doubt I'll need anything from those. This car has a Blue interior and most of it is pretty decent, save for the few things I noted above... Door seems to be a commodity here in the North East...LOL... My '84 GP had dead doors too and none of the GPs I found had nice ones... that was more than 10 years ago. I live in Western Mass and we have a number of yards out here, but no '78-87 GPs in the last few years..so any leads are good leads. Im quite familiar with these cars. I have a ton of goodies Ive been stockpiling for years. minty Blue dash, several rally guage clusters, a V8 tach, a NOS Console Plate, a bunch of misc NOS LeMans/GP specific bits, & a bunch of misc general G-Body pieces. Those, in addition to my hoard of '82-92 Firebird stuff...1/3 of my basement is car parts...LOL. My Wife and I dont see eye to eye on all the stuff., but Ive got the stuff need if ever I need it and other stuff to trade for the stuff I dont.

Really?!!? Hell, wish Id known that. I never took mine out of the speedo cluster shell....LOL. All of the GM tachs Im familiar with F-Body's, S-Series, Pickups are V8 or V6 specific... Ive passed over a bunch of V6 GPs with Tachs over the years.

TDVICK: I remember chatting w/ you about your car some time ago. Its really just too far logistically... and the GP is priced pretty cheap.. doing the math, Id be into the GP for well under 2Gs short of fixing the doors and a paint job...but its not a done deal yet... wifey isnt impressed.

I was just giving you a little poke. I don't blame you for wanting to stick closer to home. I hope you get something you both can be happy with.
